The McAllen Chamber of Commerce, McAllen Parks & Recreation, and the RGV Arts council hosted the 2nd Annual Starry Nights Art and Entertainment Festival on Saturday, October 30th from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Archer Park in downtown McAllen.  The event was filled with 20 booths set-up by local artists and art organizations selling artwork.  There was also wonderful performers throughout the evening including Evolution, De Javu, and Lady Mariposa.

The Starry Nights Festival is a strong community festival that unites various arts organizations in the area.  In the past organizations such as the International Museum of Art & Science, McAllen Memorial High School, Art House, La Lunada, and South Texas College have participated in the festival by either purchasing a booth to exhibit artwork or showcasing talent for the entertainment segment of the festival.

The event offers artists an opportunity to showcase their artwork at a very minimal cost and promote their business.

The event invites the public to attend the festival and not only aids in promoting and developing the art in the community but also provides an educational awareness of the quality of art that surrounds our community.
This year Starry Nights had many live performers, storytellers, poets, and musicians.  There were food booths serving fajita tacos, funnel cakes, nachos, turkey legs, and Moonbeans coffee.  Families were invited to attend the festival and enjoy the live local entertainment, great food, and exquisite artwork.

Admission was free to the public and there were over 500 people in attendance.  For more information on Starry Nights Art & Entertainment Festival please contact Tita Moreno at the McAllen Chamber of Commerce at 682-2871.
